About the position

Leidos is seeking a Junior Software Developer to join their team at Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs, CO. This role involves contributing to missile defense systems through software development, testing, and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams. The position offers an opportunity to work on meaningful projects that support national defense initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain mission-critical software in support of missile defense systems
• Participate in sprint and increment testing to validate software
• Document and communicate proposed software solutions with integrated, cross-functional engineering teams in a fast-paced highly technical environment
• Stay up-to-date on state-of-the-art programming techniques and software technologies
• Participate in software design and code reviews to ensure delivery of quality products and enhance skill sets
• Create software solutions utilizing established industry standards
• Work with System Engineering Team to schedule, synchronize and execute demonstration capabilities to customers
• Collaborate with third-party contractors and stakeholders on any potential regression coding due to deployment delays

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 2 to 4 years of experience
• Currently possess Secret clearance
• Experience coding in C++ and Java
• Experience developing micro-services and working with containerization
• Ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team
• Ability to convey technical ideas in a clear, logical fashion
• Ability to work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in associated field
• Experience with missile warning and missile defense
• Understanding of missile warning message types
• Experience with agile software development process IAW USG defined requirements
