About the position

The Junior Software Infrastructure Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting and modernizing the Customer Communications platforms at MetLife. This hands-on position involves creating innovative solutions, providing technical support, and ensuring the stability and growth of the platform. The engineer will collaborate with IT partners and business teams, focusing on solution design, automation, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design discussions and provide technical support to application developers and operations support staff.
• Implement integration solutions through collaboration with engineers and application teams across the global enterprise.
• Promote and utilize automation to design and support configuration management, orchestration, and maintenance of the integration platforms using tools and scripts such as Ansible, Python, PowerShell, Azure pipelines, and Linux shell.
• Troubleshoot, investigate, recommend, implement, and maintain document generation solutions across multiple technologies.
• Manage application performance and availability, including capacity planning and tuning.
• Implement automation to reduce manual work, improve efficiency, performance, and stability of the application platforms.
• Work with teams across the globe in different time zones.
• Learn new technologies and tools including automation and AI, experiment and implement solutions in collaboration with senior engineers.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience in engineering application solutions or in the field of application development.
• Experience in designing and developing applications in Java or Python.
• Experience with scripting languages (Linux Shell, PowerShell, etc.).
• Experience or familiarity with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, etc.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of or experience with SAFe Agile methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with installation, configuration, and administration of Quadient or any other document management systems.
