About the position

The Junior Sous Chef at Arlo Wynwood is a dynamic role designed for individuals passionate about culinary arts and hospitality. This position serves as a stepping stone towards management within the kitchen, where the Junior Sous Chef will support the Sous Chefs in daily operations, ensuring high standards of food quality and service are maintained. The role emphasizes teamwork, guest interaction, and adherence to health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Treat guests with courtesy and respect in various situations
  • Display honesty and integrity in all actions
  • Deliver outstanding service and create memorable experiences
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the kitchen
  • Provide quality customer service
  • Work in a professional environment
  • Work every station on the line and adhere to standards
  • Assist Sous Chefs with temperature checks and health checklists
  • Support the Sous Chef in their work
  • Check quality, organization, and recipe consistency of food
  • Check line cooks' par levels for their shift
  • Ensure cleanliness of the kitchen, stations, storage areas, and coolers
  • Train line cooks side by side
  • Maintain focus and intensity in the workshop
  • Maintain an up-to-date food handlers permit
  • Uphold People Services best practices regarding coaching and disciplinary actions
  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures

Requirements

  • 5+ years of line cook experience in Florida at a comparable restaurant or hotel
  • Good understanding of the English language (spoken and written)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to stay on feet for 8 hours plus
  • Excellent knife skills
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment such as vita prep, robo coup, ovens, and burners
  • FL Manager Food Handler Certification
