Looking for an opportunity to make an impact? We are in search of a Junior Substation Civil/Structural Engineer to join our diverse and fast-paced Chicago, IL organization. As a core team member, you will be interacting with other electric utility disciplines, playing a valuable part in leading and designing high voltage utility Civil Substation projects. This position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for 2-3 days a week in the office, with additional location options available in Portland, OR; Walled Lake, MI; Houston, TX; and Orlando, FL. The candidate must have a strong educational background in the design of steel structures, concrete structures, geotechnical engineering, and foundations. Experience with substation structure design, rigid bus design, foundation design, site development, oil spill containment design, and design of retaining walls, masonry control shelters, and fire-walls is a plus. This position will involve direct design of the civil/structural components in support of the development of bid/construction packages for substation projects. The candidate will primarily perform design calculations and develop construction-grade engineering design drawings regularly, under the supervision of a licensed civil engineer. Site visits to client substation facilities are expected to be part of the work, along with occasional travel for client meetings and industry-related events. The candidate must comply with quality control and safe work practices and maintain compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget expectations. This position will be a member of a design team comprised of engineers, designers, and drafting technicians.
