About the position

The Junior Substation Civil/Structural Engineer will play a crucial role in designing high voltage utility Civil Substation projects within a diverse and fast-paced environment. This position involves direct design responsibilities, including calculations and the development of engineering design drawings, under the supervision of a licensed civil engineer. The role also includes site visits to client facilities and occasional travel for meetings and industry events.

Responsibilities

• Perform design calculations and develop construction grade engineering design drawings for substation projects.
• Interact with other electric utility disciplines to support project development.
• Conduct site visits to client substation facilities as part of the work.
• Ensure compliance with quality control and safe work practices.
• Maintain compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget expectations.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil-Structural Engineering.
• Experience with design of steel structures, concrete structures, geotechnical engineering, and foundations.
• Experience with substation structure design, rigid bus design, and foundation design is a plus.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Mathcad software.
• Experience with STAAD.Pro, RISA-3D, FAD, SAFE, SAG10, and LPILE software is preferred.
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Engineer in Training Certificate (EIT) preferred.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or MicroStation software is preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
