We are seeking a Junior Substation Civil/Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Chicago, IL. This role is pivotal in leading and designing high voltage utility Civil Substation projects, where you will collaborate with various electric utility disciplines. As a core team member, you will be involved in the direct design of civil and structural components, contributing to the development of bid and construction packages for substation projects. Your responsibilities will include performing design calculations and creating construction-grade engineering design drawings under the supervision of a licensed civil engineer. This position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for 2-3 days a week in the office, with additional location options available in Portland, OR, Walled Lake, MI, Houston, TX, and Orlando, FL. In this fast-paced and diverse work environment, you will have the opportunity to engage in site visits to client substation facilities and may occasionally travel for client meetings and industry-related events. The role requires compliance with quality control and safe work practices, ensuring adherence to project scope, schedule, and budget expectations. You will be part of a design team that includes engineers, designers, and drafting technicians, fostering a collaborative atmosphere that encourages career development and growth.
