About the position

The Junior Technical Project Manager at Peraton will support the Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs by managing IT projects that modernize legacy networks, applications, and databases. This role involves overseeing project-related activities, collaborating with technical engineers, and ensuring high standards in project management and tracking. The position is hybrid, allowing for remote work and requires a SECRET Government Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage IT projects for the Department of State in coordination with customer managers.
  • Work closely with technical engineers to track work, identify and analyze risks, and strategize issue remediation.
  • Coordinate efforts of technical engineers to best use resources and accomplish program goals.
  • Work with the customer PMO office to track schedules on an Integrated Master Schedule across the enterprise.
  • Assist with resource management and risk management, identifying and preventing resource constraints and analyzing the results of system changes.
  • Act as Delivery Manager or Scrum Master on Kanban teams, guiding technical resources through Scrum/Kanban and Agile Product Management practices.
  • Develop comprehensive, executive-level reports that provide essential project information, such as risks, issues, impediments, and projected completion dates.
  • Develop and deliver executive level presentations to senior government executives.
  • Liaise with program stakeholders such as development teams, security officers, and PMO.
  • Work with appropriate technical and management resources to plan and schedule project timelines and milestones.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship and an active SECRET Government Security Clearance.
  • Experience managing software development, database management, infrastructure, or network environment projects.
  • Experience with project management methodologies and associated tools (SDLC, Agile, Kanban, and Jira).
  • Solid experience with MS Office Suites.
  • Experience with knowledge sharing tools, such as SharePoint and Confluence.
  • Experience providing operational task support in a highly demanding environment.
  • Ability to apply industry standards and best practices to achieve operational excellence.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working as a technical Project Manager on Federal contracts.
  • PMI PMP strongly desired.
  • Scrum Master and ITIL certifications.
