About the position

The Junior UX Designer at the Indiana Public Retirement System (INPRS) is responsible for enhancing digital communication and user experience across various platforms. This role involves conducting user research, creating design prototypes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure effective stakeholder engagement and adherence to branding guidelines. The position offers a flexible work arrangement and requires Indiana state residency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting user research and usability testing
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and user flows for digital products
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and developers
  • Ongoing, proactive maintenance of INPRS public website and other external and internal digital communications channels
  • Contribute to the design of intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces
  • Help maintain and evolve our design system
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and design critiques
  • Stay updated on UX trends and best practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in digital communication, UX, human-computer interaction or related field
  • Training and experience with website maintenance and design (HTML, CSS)
  • 0-2 years of experience in leading effective digital communication initiatives
  • Some knowledge of HTML/CSS/Javascript and responsive design is preferred
  • Familiarity with UX best practices
  • Knowledge and/or experience with research best practices and the ability to translate research into solutions
  • Proficient in prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Solid grasp of user-centered design principles
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards
