Junior Web Developer and Database Administrator Intern

About the position

The intern will join a team to develop, maintain, sustain, deploy, and provide database administration for an executable transitioning into a standalone web interface to track supply chain weaknesses for emerging technologies within the government. The chosen candidate will also be responsible for scheduled updates to the customer and be able to work project leads and software developers to support the enhancement of the industrial base.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the readiness and availability of databases necessary for production.
• Perform database patches to ensure systems are kept in accordance with Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert software and firmware upgrades and patches.
• Provide heavy scripting and database administration support.
• Perform database software/hardware upgrades and installations for multiple databases used in production.

Requirements

• Candidate should be working towards obtaining a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field.
• An understanding of web application development processes to include frontend and backend development and deployment.
• US citizenship with the ability to obtain a clearance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in agile software development methodologies.
• Experience with web-based technologies (ex. Python) and programming languages.
• Experience with Gitlab or other version control software.
• Experience with relational (Oracle, MySQL) databases.
• Experience with Apache NiFi, Apache Kafka, Elasticsearch, and containers.
• Experience with JIRA or Mantis bug/issue tracking software.
• Experience with RedHat, CentOS, and Windows operating systems.
• Database security experience, management and maintenance.
• Docker experience.
• Web framework experience with Django.
