About the position

The Director of Project Management at the Justice Administrative Commission (JAC) will oversee the management of various projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. This role involves applying project management principles and practices to support the organization's mission of assisting Florida's judicial system. The Director will work closely with stakeholders, manage project lifecycles, and maintain project documentation while fostering effective communication and collaboration among project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate projects by working with the Sponsor to identify stakeholders, create a project charter, and define the scope of the project.
  • Manage the Project Management lifecycle from beginning to end and communicate frequently with stakeholders and project teams to ensure stakeholder and project team buy-in and progress.
  • Manage the relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Create Project Management plans as defined in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) to assist in defining the project and track progress.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation.
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  • Manage budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis.
  • Measure performance using appropriate project management tools and techniques.
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets, diagrams, and charts to communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Report and escalate issues to management as needed.
  • Work with Functional Managers and the Sponsor to coordinate internal resources and ensure they are available when needed.
  • Establish and maintain JAC's project management standards, standard operating procedures, and templates.
  • Curate JAC's project management central repository.
  • Assist in procuring outside vendors and meet with them to assess their progress and clarify specific requirements of each project.
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills.
  • Attend conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of six years of experience with project management.
  • A bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, business management, or a related field.
  • Relevant project management-related experience.
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Chapter 60.GG, Florida Administrative Code.
  • Skilled in using project management templates provided by the Florida Digital Service.
  • Knowledge of data analysis techniques and methodology.
