About the position

The Juvenile Court Officer 1 position is responsible for handling various matters related to youth as per Iowa Code Chapter 232. This includes supervising youth on probation, conducting investigations, and preparing reports for the court. The role requires a commitment to working with youth in the judicial system and may involve travel to different locations within the jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

  • Handle selected matters pertaining to youth, including intake and supervision of youth on informal probation, consent decrees, and formal probation.
  • Conduct and prepare the pre-dispositional investigation and report, case permanency plan, and other reports to the court.
  • Manage youth detention and/or shelter placement.
  • Supervise youth in out-of-home placement and those active through interstate compact.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in law, criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, education, or related social sciences.
  • Must successfully complete training requirements set by the Iowa Supreme Court.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $52,561.60 - $83,803.20 annually.
  • Full-time position with standard working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
