About the position

The Juvenile Healing to Wellness Program Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing the Puyallup Juvenile Healing to Wellness Program (JHW), aimed at supporting youth in early contact with the justice system or at risk of arrest due to behavioral health and substance abuse issues. This role involves collaboration with various tribal agencies, community resources, and cultural practices to enhance public safety and community wellness. The Coordinator will lead the program's development, ensuring it is grounded in cultural healing and evidence-based practices, while also engaging with tribal elders and other stakeholders to promote healing and reintegration into the community.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Puyallup Juvenile Healing to Wellness Program (JHW).
  • Facilitate JHW Development team meetings and Operational Workgroup meetings.
  • Coordinate with national and regional technical assistance providers.
  • Integrate JHW services with related tribal entities and service provision.
  • Develop policies, procedures, protocols, systems, and structures for the JHW team.
  • Set up and participate in trainings and technical assistance for JHW Program members.
  • Participate in grant activities including reporting and data tracking.
  • Demonstrate the effectiveness of JHW practices by collecting data.
  • Support gradual implementation of JHW elements.
  • Establish relationships with other jurisdictions implementing similar programs.
  • Coordinate the development of media strategy for JHW.
  • Develop formal referral entry points and legal processes for clients.
  • Create screening and eligibility requirements for clients assigned to JHW.
  • Develop performance measurement and evaluation metrics.
  • Establish a Puyallup Juvenile Healing to Wellness Program Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Collaborate with case management providers and maintain professional relationships with service providers.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress with respect to treatment goals.
  • Facilitate case plan development and diversion proceedings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and conduct outreach to raise awareness about the JHW Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Behavioral Health, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of significant related experience in a supervisory or project management role.
  • Good understanding of facilitating meetings and leveraging community resources.
  • Ability to interact tactfully with Tribal members and staff.
  • Excellent meeting facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as percentages and ratios.
  • Ability to develop logical and creative solutions to problems.
  • Knowledge of criminal justice procedures and ability to communicate within these systems.
  • Commitment to the harm reduction philosophy and working with marginalized people.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with Native American communities.
  • Knowledge of cultural practices such as GONA and Healing of the Canoes.
