About the position

The Juvenile Program Manager at McDuffie CSO & HITS is responsible for supervising and guiding subordinate staff while providing social services aimed at rehabilitating youth. This role involves evaluating youth progress, administering drug tests, preparing case files, and conducting investigations to support rehabilitation plans and court recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and guide subordinate staff in their work assignments.
  • Provide social services to assist in the rehabilitation of youth.
  • Interview youth regularly to evaluate their progress in achieving goals and maintaining probation terms.
  • Recommend remedial actions or initiate court actions for non-compliance with probation terms.
  • Administer drug and alcohol tests, including random drug screens, to verify compliance with treatment programs.
  • Prepare and maintain case folders for each assigned youth.
  • Discuss issues such as drug and alcohol abuse and anger management with youth.
  • Conduct pre-hearing and pre-screening investigations and testify in court regarding youth backgrounds.
  • Inform youth of conditional release requirements, including office visits and restitution payments.
  • Write reports describing youth progress and investigate legal issues.
  • Counsel clients with substance abuse issues and arrange for necessary treatment services.
  • Supervise individuals on community-based sentences and conduct field supervision of probationers.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and five years of job-related experience in a human services delivery setting, including one year in a supervisory role.
  • Seven years of direct case management experience working with offenders and their families, including one year in a supervisory role.
  • Two years of experience at the lower level Juv. Probation/Parole Spec 3 or equivalent position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three or more years of experience supervising or managing staff in a human services delivery setting.
