About the position

The K-12 School Psychologist position at Palmerton Area School District is a full-time role focused on providing psychological services to students across K-12. The psychologist will conduct evaluations, provide counseling, and collaborate with educators and parents to support students' academic and emotional needs. This position requires a valid Pennsylvania Educational Specialist Certification for School Psychologist and involves working 225 days per year.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychological evaluations and comprehensive assessments.
• Provide individual and group counseling for students as needed.
• Consult with teachers, parents/guardians, and other district personnel regarding students' needs.
• Attend and chair multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Follow up on students evaluated to ensure they receive appropriate services.
• Assist in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Provide crisis prevention and intervention services.
• Participate in training and in-service programs.
• Coordinate additional mental health services in emergencies.
• Work collaboratively with external agencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or an acceptable equivalent.
• Active and valid School Psychologist Certificate issued by PDE.
• Two (2) years of experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving, planning, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to evaluate, counsel, and work with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to adhere to mandated timelines in providing services.
• High frustration tolerance and flexibility in dealing with various situations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Board of Directors and the general public.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in leadership roles.
• Knowledge of federal and state guidelines for special education.
