About the position
Dream City Christian School is seeking on-call substitute teachers for Pre-K-8th grade classrooms at their Scottsdale campus. The role involves providing meaningful instruction in the absence of regular classroom teachers, ensuring a conducive learning environment, and following lesson plans left by the teachers. The substitute teacher will report to the school office, manage classroom activities, and maintain order while guiding students towards achieving curriculum goals.
Responsibilities
- Report to the school office at the beginning and end of the school day to pick up and return materials.
- Follow lesson plans left by the regular classroom teacher.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Guide the learning process towards curriculum goals and objectives.
- Employ appropriate instructional methods and materials.
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
- Take attendance according to school procedures.
- Set basic expectations for student behavior at the beginning of class.
- Ensure students are never left unattended in the classroom.
- Perform duties usually required of the absent teacher, such as lunchroom or recess duty.
- Know emergency evacuation routes and procedures for referring disciplinary problems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (Required)
- Valid Substitute Teaching Certification issued by the state of Arizona (Required)
- AZ Fingerprint Clearance card (Required)
- Experience working with students (Preferred)
- 1 year of substitute teaching experience (Preferred)
Benefits
- Pay of $125 per day
- Flexible schedule as needed on call
