About the position

The Shop Coordinator in the Fleet Operations Division at the Texas Department of Transportation is responsible for overseeing the operations of an equipment shop. This role involves leading a team of skilled craft employees in the repair and maintenance of TxDOT vehicles and equipment, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery. The coordinator establishes work plans, prioritizes tasks, and handles issues independently, while also coordinating with various stakeholders including governmental officials and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and assigns work to equipment mechanics, welders, and haul truck drivers in the equipment shop.
  • Prioritizes the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Provides guidance on difficult or unusual repairs of vehicles and equipment.
  • Coordinates the vehicle and equipment make-ready process.
  • Manages the vehicle and equipment sale process.
  • Approves the acquisition of parts requested by equipment mechanics.
  • Coordinates with district personnel and vendors.
  • Enters work orders and other information related to vehicle and equipment repairs into the fleet information system.
  • Utilizes various technology tools to improve shop operations efficiency.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in coordinating operations in a repair or maintenance environment.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage a team of skilled craft employees.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range between $57k and $93k per year.
