About the position

The Kafka Developer role involves designing, implementing, and delivering solutions using Kafka architecture and related technologies. The position requires extensive hands-on experience with Kafka, including administration, configuration, and troubleshooting, as well as the ability to work independently and lead efforts in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the business and IT team to understand business problems and design appropriate solutions using Agile methodology.
  • Implement solutions on multiple platforms (DEV, QA, UAT, PROD) independently.
  • Provide technical direction, guidance, and reviews to other engineers on the project.
  • Administer distributed Kafka clusters in various environments and troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Implement and debug subsystems/microservices and components.
  • Follow an automate-first/automate-everything philosophy.

Requirements

  • 8 - 12 years of experience in software development, with at least 5+ years of hands-on experience in Kafka.
  • Deep understanding of Kafka architecture and internals, including brokers, Zookeeper, Producers/Consumers, Kafka Connect, and Kafka Streams.
  • Strong experience with Kafka Connect and KSQL architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka DB connectors for Oracle and MySQL.
  • Strong fundamentals in Kafka administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Kafka clustering and its fault-tolerance model supporting HA and DR.
  • Experience developing KStreams pipelines and deploying KStreams clusters.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for debugging complex issues.
  • Experience using agile methodologies for software development.
  • Experience developing KSQL queries and understanding best practices for using KSQL vs streams.
  • Familiarity with Confluent Control Center or Kafka Monitoring Tool (UI).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamically changing environment.
  • Ability to lead efforts and work with minimum supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of Microservices technologies including Spring Boot and Java.
  • Experience with Apigee API Integration platform.
  • Experience with Appian.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, and Stored Procedures.
