About the position

The Vice President for Programs (VP-Programs) at the Wilson Center plays a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of the organization's regional and thematic programs. This position serves as the principal advisor to the President and CEO, providing insights and recommendations on programmatic initiatives that align with the Center's mission. The VP-Programs will be responsible for analyzing the effectiveness and impact of various programs, ensuring that they contribute to the production of high-quality publications and events that influence foreign policy discussions both in Washington and on a global scale. In this role, the VP-Programs will oversee a diverse portfolio of programs, working closely with program directors and staff to enhance the quality and reach of their outputs. The incumbent will be expected to foster collaboration among different teams, encouraging innovative approaches to program development and execution. A key objective will be to ensure that the programs not only meet the needs of stakeholders but also set industry standards for excellence in research and public engagement. The VP-Programs will also represent the Wilson Center in various external forums, engaging with policymakers, scholars, and practitioners to promote the Center's work and to gather insights that can inform programmatic strategies. This position requires a deep understanding of foreign policy issues, strong leadership skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences.
