Kennel Assistant

About the position

The Kennel Assistant at The Dog Stop is responsible for providing daily care for animals, ensuring their health and well-being, and assisting veterinary staff with various tasks. This role involves both hands-on animal care and customer service, making it essential for candidates to have a passion for animals and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for animals including feeding, watering, and exercising.
• Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and animal holding areas.
• Monitor the health and behavior of animals and report any concerns to the veterinary staff.
• Assist with bathing, grooming, and nail trimming of pets.
• Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff.
• Interact with pet owners and provide excellent customer service.
• Assist in restraining animals for medical procedures.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is preferred.
• Knowledge of basic animal care and handling techniques.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Strong communication skills with both pet owners and veterinary staff.
• Willingness to learn and follow directions from veterinary technicians and veterinarians.
