About the position

The Kennel Attendant is responsible for providing daily care and attention to animals in a kennel facility. This role involves cleaning and sanitizing animal living areas, feeding and watering animals, administering medications, and ensuring the physical and mental well-being of the animals. The position requires interaction with pet owners and maintaining accurate records of animal care.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care and attention to animals in the kennel facility
• Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and other animal living areas
• Feed and water animals according to their specific dietary needs
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinary staff
• Exercise and socialize animals to ensure their physical and mental well-being
• Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming
• Monitor the health and behavior of animals and report any concerns to the veterinary staff
• Maintain accurate records of animal care, including feeding schedules, medications, and any observed changes in behavior or health

Requirements

• Experience in dog training, pet sitting, or animal handling is preferred
• Knowledge of kennel procedures and best practices for animal care
• Strong customer service skills to interact with pet owners and provide information about their pets' well-being
• Ability to handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments safely and confidently
• Physical fitness and ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) when necessary
• Familiarity with basic veterinary procedures and ability to administer medications as directed
• Knowledge of pet grooming techniques is a plus
