About the position
The Kennel Manager at Buckeye's Missions and Sanctuary is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the kennel, ensuring the well-being of the dogs, and managing staff effectively. This role requires a compassionate individual with experience in animal care and management, who can lead projects, enforce policies, and maintain a budget while providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Assist the manager in leading functions and employees to ensure successful operations.
- Lead projects and develop strategies for ongoing growth and success.
- Monitor the success of projects and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Operate within an allocated budget and prioritize expenses.
- Organize and optimize daily workflow and operations.
- Develop personnel and coach team members as needed.
- Ensure quality assurance in all operations.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience as an assistant manager in a business setting.
- Experience in handling multiple dogs in playgroups and on walks.
- Knowledgeable in basic dog body language and characteristics of common breeds.
- Basic knowledge in dog hygiene and ability to handle simple hygiene tasks such as bathing and nail trimming.
- Previous work experience in a boarding/daycare facility.
- Some education in animal care.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in customer service and diffusing challenging situations.
- Leadership qualities and ability to work as a team member.
