About the position

MSA Security®, an Allied Universal® Company, is seeking a dedicated Kennel Technician to join our team. The Kennel Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the well-being of our canines and ensuring that the kennel facilities are kept in optimal condition. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including the logistical support for transporting personnel and canines, as well as the daily care and maintenance of the canines in our care. The ideal candidate will be passionate about animal care and will thrive in a fast-paced environment where multitasking is essential. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the transportation of personnel and canines to and from designated locations, primarily within the Northern Virginia region. You will also be tasked with providing log and incident reports, assisting with minor maintenance and cleaning duties, and ensuring that the kennels and food preparation areas are kept clean and organized. Daily activities will include feeding, walking, exercising, and bathing the canines, as well as administering medications as directed by veterinary personnel. You will also be responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness of the training and kennel facility, which includes sweeping, mopping, and checking equipment and supplies. The Kennel Technician position requires a commitment to the care and safety of the canines, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with other staff members. Responsibilities

  • Manage the logistical support for transporting personnel and canines to and from a pre-determined location
  • Drive and transport personnel including canines in and around Northern Virginia region
  • Provide Log Reports
  • Provide Incident Reports
  • Assist with minor maintenance, cleaning, and inventory
  • Feed, walk, exercise, and bathe canines as needed in our care
  • Administer medications as indicated by veterinarian personnel
  • Bring canines to and from the kennel during before, during and after training
  • Clean up after canines both inside the facility and outside, and clean canine kennels
  • Maintain the training and kennel facility by performing tasks including sweeping/mopping floors, wiping counters, taking out trash, cleaning bathrooms, and checking equipment and supplies
  • Assist other staff members on occasion with tasks such as prepping training floors or food for canines

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Possess, or be able to obtain, a minimum Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) level clearance
  • Valid driver's license
  • No prior work experience required
  • Knowledge of traffic and safety regulations, practices and procedures pertaining to motor vehicle operation, and passenger safety rules
  • Ability to read installation maps to determine the shortest and safest route
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, while handling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Availability on weekends and holidays to tend to kenneled canines
