About the position

The Payroll Tax Specialist at Kering will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with payroll tax reporting and regulations. This position is based in Wayne, New Jersey, and reports directly to the Senior Manager of Payroll for Kering Americas. The specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to tax reporting compliance, including the accurate reporting of payroll taxes, auditing tax records, and responding to internal inquiries regarding tax compliance. A solid understanding of federal payroll tax credit programs, such as Employer Retention Credits and Paid Sick and Family Leave Tax Credits, is essential for this role. In this position, the Payroll Tax Specialist will analyze multi-state payroll tax data to ensure that payroll information is reported accurately to federal, state, and local agencies. This includes verifying processes in Dayforce, ensuring timely and accurate withholding tax payments, and maintaining an overview of payments to identify discrepancies. The specialist will also be responsible for performing quarterly and annual audit true-ups to ensure accurate payment returns and resolving any payroll tax errors that may arise. Additionally, the role involves processing taxable benefits, setting up new jurisdictions, and updating account numbers and rates in Dayforce. The specialist will research and monitor payroll tax issues, ensuring timely resolutions, and will provide guidance to the payroll team regarding tax queries. Reporting responsibilities include ensuring all amended filings are completed, reviewing year-end reporting for both the US and Canada, and documenting payroll tax processing procedures. Staying updated on current legislation and regulatory rulings impacting payroll is also a key aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze multi-state payroll tax data and ensure accurate reporting to federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Verify Dayforce processes and ensure timely and accurate withholding tax payments.
  • Map and maintain an overview of Dayforce payments vs Kering payments, addressing discrepancies as they arise.
  • Verify accurate deposits and filing of tax liabilities.
  • Perform Quarterly and Annual Audit True Ups to ensure accurate payment returns.
  • Resolve payroll tax errors and queries to support timely payroll processing.
  • Periodically audit employee tax records to ensure proper taxation changes are implemented.
  • Complete necessary tax adjustments and process taxable benefits such as Clothing Allowance and Fitness Reimbursement.
  • Setup new jurisdictions and distribute tax remittances according to guidelines.
  • Update account numbers and rates in Dayforce upon receipt.
  • Research, document, and monitor payroll tax issues and notices, ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Process employee and employer payroll tax adjustment W-2C, T-4/RL-1 amendments.
  • Provide guidance and support to the payroll team regarding tax queries.
  • Ensure all amended filings are completed and submitted as required.
  • Review and reconcile year-end reporting for US and Canada quarterly and annual filings.
  • Download all Quarterly and Annual tax filing reports to the Payroll Shared Drive.
  • Document and review payroll tax processing procedures and perform compliance and year-end reporting.
  • Provide bi-weekly updates on outstanding tax issues.
  • Stay abreast of current legislation and regulatory rulings impacting payroll.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance or related field is desired; or equivalent education and/or related work experience.
  • 8+ years in US and Canadian tax experience required.
  • Strong understanding and practical knowledge of US and Canada payroll and tax requirements.
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) and/or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
  • Exceptional proficiency in MS Excel, with the ability to analyze large datasets and employ complex functions for data analysis and reporting.
  • Intermediate abilities with MS Outlook and Word.
  • Ability to implement rigorous data validation protocols to maintain data accuracy and integrity.
  • Strong communication skills with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Consistent quality in data entry and ability to meet deadlines.
