About the position

As a Key Account Clinical Specialist at Abbott, you will play a crucial role in advancing the treatment of heart disease through innovative medical technologies, particularly in the field of electrophysiology (EP). This position requires you to work within a multifunctional team, where critical thinking and collaborative engagements are essential for time-based execution. You will be responsible for attending and providing mapping support during EP procedures, ensuring that medical professionals receive the necessary in-case support, new product training, and technical troubleshooting. Your role will also involve proctoring staff and physicians, helping to develop their independence in using Abbott's technologies. In addition to direct support during procedures, you will be tasked with contacting and visiting clients and potential clients to address any questions or concerns they may have. This includes executing an EP development and clinical staffing strategy tailored to each account, elevating the local clinical team through mentorship, and providing comprehensive post-case debriefs to share best practices and learnings with support staff. You will also be responsible for creating and distributing case studies and training materials, as well as conducting fellows training to ensure that all stakeholders are well-informed about Abbott's offerings. To succeed in this role, you will need to maintain an in-depth knowledge of your assigned accounts, including competitor activity, and develop strategies for growth opportunities. Your ability to interface with patients and collect information about new and existing products will be vital in monitoring competitor sales, prices, and products. You will also provide sales support and clinical expertise to internal colleagues, ensuring that Abbott's technologies are effectively promoted and utilized in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a multifunctional team requiring critical thinking, collaborative engagements, and time-based execution.
  • Attend and provide mapping support at EP procedures.
  • Proctor staff/physicians and work to develop center to independence.
  • Contact and visit clients and potential clients, addressing any client questions and concerns as directed by area and national leaders.
  • Provide medical professionals with in-case support, new product training, sales support, information, and training on the use of Company products and with staff education, in-services and technical troubleshooting.
  • Execute on a per account basis an EP development and clinical staffing entry and exit strategy.
  • Elevate local clinical team through AAA execution and mentorship.
  • Provide full post case debrief to share best practices and case learnings with all surrounding support staff.
  • Create and distribute case studies and training materials.
  • Conduct fellows training.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of assigned accounts to include competitor activity, conduct evaluations, and develop strategies for growth opportunities within assigned accounts.
  • Interface and interact with patients.
  • Collect and study information about new and existing products and monitor competitor sales, prices and products.
  • Provide sales support, educational support, and clinical expertise/guidance to internal colleagues.

Requirements

  • Willing and able to travel at 50%.
  • High communication capacity to ensure that multiple business partners are integrated into EP procedure schedules and strategies.
  • Presentation skills and the ability to articulate procedure details, anticipation, and promotion of Abbott technologies.
  • Registered Nursing Degree (RN), Certified Radiology Technician (CRT), or Cardiovascular Technician (RCIS) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Schedule flexibility for case coverage and customer meetings after hours and on weekends.
  • Excellent personal computer skills including MS Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Exceptional knowledge in EP ablative therapies and medical devices industry.
  • Verification that you will satisfy all vendor credentialing requirements, which may include vaccination for COVID-19.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 3 years of prior EP industry experience and advance degree preferred.
  • BS in related field highly desirable.
