About the position

The Key Account Manager I at Alliant Energy plays a crucial role in supporting and coordinating activities for key commercial and industrial accounts. This position focuses on building relationships with customers, negotiating service contracts, and ensuring customer satisfaction while helping clients achieve their sustainability goals. The role requires effective communication and collaboration with various departments to deliver exceptional service and support to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with community and commercial and industrial (C&I) customers to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Seek opportunities to create and maintain relationships with community leaders and engage in community involvement.
  • Serve as a single point of contact and advocate for customers, acting as a liaison between the customer and Alliant Energy.
  • Work closely with departments such as billing, operations, marketing, pricing, finance, communications, claims processing, demand side management, and legal.
  • Coordinate the preparation and execution of utility customer contracts, ensuring services meet customer needs.
  • Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of C&I customer information files.
  • Maintain continuous contact with electric and gas systems operations to notify interruptible customers.
  • Support the maintenance of the interruptible database for generating reports and initiating notifications of interruptions.
  • Learn and enforce safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors.
  • Engage in other duties that support company values and purpose.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Advertising, Economics, or a related area (preferred).
  • 0-3 years of related experience.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the utility industry and with commercial and/or industrial customer support or sales.
  • Basic knowledge of business economics and customer relations with technical expertise to facilitate solutions.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret contract language and understand applicable tariffs.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate with others.
