About the position

The Key Account Manager - Transplant (KAM) serves as the primary liaison between Takeda and transplant centers within a designated territory. This role is crucial for presenting Takeda's transplant products and associated services to various healthcare professionals involved in the transplant process. The KAM is responsible for achieving sales targets, developing strategic account plans, and fostering relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective product access and support.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve or exceed sales targets and Management by Objective (MBO) goals.
  • Develop and execute strategic and tactical account planning, including stakeholder mapping and identifying business goals.
  • Create a comprehensive, territory-specific business plan to achieve corporate objectives.
  • Gain access for specialty products in accounts, including protocol and formulary access.
  • Conduct account management at transplant centers, fostering confidence in Takeda's approach.
  • Develop relationships with Executive Level, Operations, Financial, and Pharmacy personnel within transplant centers.
  • Identify key stakeholders and their needs within each transplant center and build relationships.
  • Develop cross-functional business plans and launch business development initiatives for high-volume transplant centers.
  • Attain sales goals by delivering Business Objectives and prescriber growth metrics.
  • Regularly evaluate account business plans to align with strategic objectives and market changes.
  • Monitor infusion economics, inventory management, and reimbursement trends, partnering with experts to stay informed.
  • Communicate updates and status reports to cross-functional teams to enhance sales opportunities.
  • Deliver accurate clinical, financial, and operational messages to stakeholders.
  • Educate home office personnel on therapeutic account information and collaborate with colleagues on account issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree - BA/BS
  • 5 years direct selling experience to healthcare professionals in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare industry.
  • Experience in developing and executing business plans aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Advanced business skills in negotiation, strategy, presentation, analytics, and teamwork.
  • Strong collaboration skills and success working within teams.
  • Demonstrated business and strategic planning skills to identify unique selling opportunities.
  • Understanding of the managed care landscape and its impact on business.
  • Strong verbal, influencing, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Reside within the assigned geography.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience within transplant and/or rare disease is highly preferred.
  • Account-based sales experience or experience within rare disease developing centers of excellence.
  • Experience with buy & bill product selling/account management.
  • Understanding of payer access and reimbursement at various levels.
  • Advanced business or scientific degree (MBA, MS, PharmD, etc.).
  • Experience managing complex reimbursement issues.
  • Experience with complex selling situations.
  • Pharmaceutical product launch experience.
  • Experience in calling on specialists involved in transplant.
