About the position

The Key Account Sales Consultant at MSC Industrial Supply Co. is responsible for enhancing the company's market position and driving revenue growth within Mid-Market customers. This role involves managing a portfolio of accounts, building strong customer relationships, identifying business opportunities, and utilizing analytical tools to provide valuable insights to customers. The consultant will work closely with internal teams to maximize sales opportunities and ensure alignment with MSC's strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Aligns unique insights to key customer priorities and reframes their business perspective.
  • Engages customers in dialogue to create constructive tension and deliver insights convincingly.
  • Develops strategies for engaging critical stakeholders and linking supplier capabilities to their objectives.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of macro and microeconomic trends affecting customers' industries.
  • Qualifies and quantifies the impact of maintaining the status quo versus pursuing competitors' solutions.
  • Proactively advances the purchase decision and collaborates with customers to define next steps.
  • Tailors presentations and insights specific to the customer's industry and needs.
  • Utilizes Salesforce.com for managing customer relationships and sales processes.
  • Guides customers through the purchasing process and anticipates roadblocks.
  • Develops relationships with users, influencers, and decision-makers across various departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Industrial Distribution, Manufacturing, or equivalent experience required.
  • 2 years of demonstrated success in B2B sales preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Salesforce.com.
