About the position

The Key Carrier/Closing Manager is responsible for overseeing the grocery department's daily operations, ensuring high levels of customer service, and managing team members in the absence of higher management. This role involves various tasks including ordering, receiving, stocking, and merchandising, while also promoting a positive work environment and engaging in sales techniques.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit and develop maximum customer relations through friendly and courteous behavior.
• Promote a high level of morale within the department and store.
• Perform ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking, rotation, and merchandising duties.
• Assist in planning, organizing, and directing day-to-day operations of the grocery department.
• Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
• Responsible for the overall operation of the store including supervision of all team members in the absence of the Store Director and Assistant Store Director.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 21 years old.
• Ability to be friendly, courteous, tactful, and maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with department managers to improve sales storewide.
• Analytical ability to handle administrative details such as planning, reporting, scheduling, supervising, and making hiring and disciplinary decisions.
• Ability to judge and react to business activity.
• Knowledge of basic math and weights and measures.
• Knowledge of product variety, product location, and perishability.
• Knowledge of check stand and scanning procedures.
• Ability to implement emergency procedures in the event of equipment and computer software malfunctions.
