About the position
As a Manager- Kinetic Construction at Windstream, you will play a crucial role in leading a team that represents our telecommunications brand, connecting homeowners, small businesses, enterprises, and carrier partners across the United States. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe and successful installation of aerial, buried, and underground cable. You will have the authority to allocate resources and make construction decisions for the assigned areas, adhering to company policies, standards, guidelines, and commitments. Your role will encompass managing the overall project execution performance, which includes scope, engineering, cost, safety, quality, schedule, implementation, and customer satisfaction. In this position, you will conduct weekly meetings with your staff, providing general direction and accountability for the engineering, construction, quality, schedule, and cost control of assigned jobs. You will ensure that resources with the proper expertise are available to support engineering and construction project execution. Additionally, you will manage call-out teams and handle after-hours issues, including emergencies and escalations, which may occur on holidays and weekends. Regular visits to construction job sites will be necessary to validate workmanship and ensure that job requests remain within budget. You will also be responsible for reporting project status and performance data to management, attending management calls and meetings as requested, and participating in continuous safety training. Staying updated on emerging technologies will be essential, as will exercising sound judgment in selecting engineering techniques for obtaining solutions. You will oversee wireline engineering and construction projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget, working closely with the materials coordinator to verify materials for each job. Promoting a culture of innovative solutions that embody accountability and efficiency will be a key aspect of your leadership role.
Responsibilities
- Conduct weekly meetings with staff to provide direction and accountability for engineering, construction, quality, schedule, and cost control.
- Ensure availability of resources with proper expertise to support engineering and construction project execution.
- Manage call-out teams and handle after-hours issues, including emergencies and escalations.
- Visit construction job sites to validate workmanship and ensure job requests are within budget.
- Attend management calls and meetings as requested and report project status and performance data to management.
- Participate in continuous safety training and stay updated on emerging technologies.
- Plan and analyze recommendations for new OSP construction including fiber to the premises (FTTP).
- Oversee wireline engineering and construction projects to ensure completion within budget.
- Work with the materials coordinator to verify materials for the job.
- Promote a culture of innovative solutions that embody accountability and efficiency.
Requirements
- College degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 5-7 years of professional level experience with 2 years of supervisory experience within Engineering and Construction.
- Self-motivation and strong organizational skills to manage multiple construction/engineering jobs simultaneously.
- Authentic and collaborative communication skills.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction practices.
- Ability to lead a group of individual contributors to accomplish departmental goals.
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass DOT certification pre-hire.
