About the position

The Children's Specialist is responsible for maintaining the daily operations of the Kids Club in alignment with the goals set by the Recreation Manager. This role involves organizing and executing various activities for children, including family events and summer camps. The specialist will interact with children aged from sitters to about ten years, ensuring a safe and engaging environment.

Responsibilities

• Interact with children ages sitters to about ten years of age, at varying levels of physical abilities.
• Open and close the child services area at the Recreation Center.
• Plan, develop, and execute various fun and educational children's activities.
• Ensure all children participating in activities are signed in and that the responsible parent/guardian has signed a liability waiver.
• Provide a list of required materials and supplies to the Family and Children's Services Coordinator.
• Set up and break down all activities, flipping the room as needed.
• Attend special events hosted at the Recreation Center or other locations as needed.
• Supervise up to 8 children at a time while maintaining an interactive age-friendly routine.
• Maintain the Kids Club room, Teen Room, and restroom in a clean and orderly fashion.
• Keep both Kids Club and storage areas neat and in safe working order.
• Demonstrate a positive 'can-do' attitude and a proactive, team-centered approach.
• Deliver 'I Am Proud' service standards and establish cross-departmental communication.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year's related work experience with children, preferably in a daycare or program setting.
• Ability to interpret/extract information and perform arithmetic functions.
• Good communication skills and patience.
• Must have or be able to obtain CPR & First Aid Certifications.
