About the position

The Kindergarten Spanish-English Dual Language Teacher position at Champaign Unit 4 School District is designed for educators who are passionate about fostering bilingualism and biliteracy in young learners. This role is critical in creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment where students can thrive in both Spanish and English. The teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing a dual language curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students, ensuring that all learners are supported in their language acquisition journey. The position is full-time (1.0 FTE) and is available for the upcoming school year, starting in August 2024. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team at the International Prep Academy, contributing to a vibrant educational community that serves over 10,000 students across various grade levels. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a dual language curriculum for kindergarten students in both Spanish and English.

  • Collaborate with other educators and staff to enhance the dual language program.
  • Engage with families and the community to support student learning and cultural appreciation.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to improve teaching practices and stay current with dual language education trends.

Requirements

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Elementary Bilingual (Spanish/English) Endorsement.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English, with alternative licensure pathways available for candidates without a valid teaching license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in dual language or bilingual education settings.
  • National Board Certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
