About the position

The Kindergarten Long Term Substitute Teacher is responsible for leading students in their intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. This role involves creating a conducive learning environment, preparing lesson plans, and evaluating student progress while adhering to the district's educational philosophy and policies.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated times.
• Develops and maintains a conducive classroom environment for effective learning.
• Prepares lesson plans and shows written evidence of preparation as required by the Principal.
• Encourages students to maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet student needs.
• Implements the district's educational philosophy and instructional goals.
• Takes precautions to protect students and school property.
• Evaluates student progress regularly and maintains accurate records.
• Upholds and enforces school rules and regulations.
• Communicates with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
• Participates in faculty meetings and collaborates with staff on instructional planning.
• Assists in selecting instructional materials and equipment.
• Fulfills duty assignments during the school day as assigned.
• Establishes cooperative relations with others and participates in professional growth activities.

Requirements

• Holds or is eligible for a New Jersey Instructional Certificate (P-3; Elementary K-5; Teacher of Students with Disabilities; Teacher of the Handicapped).
• Under 1 year of teaching experience.
