About the position

The Kindergarten Teacher position focuses on creating a supportive and flexible learning environment that fosters personal growth and development in young students. The role involves planning and implementing educational programs tailored to individual student needs while adhering to state educational standards. The teacher will engage with students and their families to promote positive attitudes and effective learning experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Cooperates in the development and implementation of the district program of instruction.
  • Plans and implements a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, assignments, units, and projects in harmony with curriculum goals.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of appropriate student behavior and discipline.
  • Evaluates the learning progress of students on a regular basis.
  • Prescribes effective learning programs and initiates referrals to appropriate personnel when concerns arise.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students and provides progress reports as required.
  • Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the district testing program.
  • Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students and parents regarding academic, social, and behavioral progress.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated locations and times.
  • Selects and requests appropriate books and instructional materials, maintaining required inventory records.
  • Provides directions and materials for substitute teachers and supervises classroom aides, guests, and volunteers.
  • Cooperates with staff and support personnel in assessing and helping students with health, attitude, learning, and behavioral problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field
  • Valid NM Teacher's license appropriate to teaching assignment (200 K-8 Elementary, 250 Birth - 3rd Grade, 252 PreK - 3rd Grade, 350 5-9 Middle-Level, 500 PreK-12 Specialty Area)
