The Kindergarten Teacher position at Youngstown City Schools, under the Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio, is a full-time role focused on providing quality education to young learners. The teacher will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment that fosters the social, emotional, and academic growth of kindergarten students. This role requires a deep understanding of early childhood education principles and the ability to implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles. The teacher will also be expected to collaborate with parents, colleagues, and support staff to ensure that each child receives the necessary support to thrive in their educational journey. In addition to general teaching responsibilities, the Kindergarten Teacher must comply with the Dyslexia Support Laws, which mandate that all educators teaching kindergarten through third grade complete professional development focused on dyslexia. This includes understanding the characteristics of dyslexia and effective instructional strategies for students with dyslexia. The Ohio Dyslexia Committee requires educators to complete 18 hours of professional development aligned with the Ohio Dyslexia Guidebook, ensuring that teachers are well-equipped to support all learners, particularly those with dyslexia. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching young children, possess strong communication skills, and be committed to ongoing professional development. Preference will initially be given to internal applicants as outlined in the YEA bargaining unit agreement.
