About the position

The Kindergarten Teacher at Eastpointe Community Schools is responsible for teaching children in a Lower Elementary setting. This role involves planning, evaluating, and assigning lessons, as well as preparing and grading tests. The teacher will introduce and instruct children in an age-appropriate curriculum, ensuring that students achieve outstanding academic results while addressing their social and emotional needs.

Responsibilities

• Teach children in a classroom in a Lower Elementary setting.
• Plan, evaluate, and assign lessons.
• Prepare, administer, and grade tests.
• Listen to oral presentations and maintain classroom discipline.
• Introduce and instruct children in an age-appropriate curriculum.
• Build meaningful, caring relationships with students to influence academic performance.
• Leverage the student support network to address students' needs.
• Motivate students and influence their behaviors.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to create and execute instructional plans.
• Coordinate instruction across grade levels to support at-risk students.
• Discuss subject-specific content instruction and try new ideas to improve learning.
• Align curriculum, instruction, and assessments to meet individual student needs.
• Collect and analyze data to inform instructional decisions.
• Design and utilize formative assessments to adjust instruction daily.
• Develop organized routines and communicate clear expectations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
• Michigan Elementary Teacher Certification, highly qualified in subject area for level K-5.
• 1 year of teaching experience.
