About the position

D.E.L.T.A STEAM Academy is seeking a dedicated Kindergarten Teacher to join their team. This full-time position involves leading a classroom in a K-8 public charter school that emphasizes STEAM education through project-based learning. The teacher will be responsible for creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment, implementing a rigorous curriculum, and fostering student success through data-driven instruction and cultural competence.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement lessons through the engineering design process.
  • Engage in collaborative planning processes within and across grade levels.
  • Understand and effectively implement the Georgia Standards of Excellence.
  • Actively engage all students in standards-based lessons.
  • Continuously seek to improve practice through professional development opportunities.
  • Utilize strategies that appeal to multiple learning modalities.
  • Assess students formally and informally to monitor progress.
  • Use data to drive instructional practices for student growth.
  • Model expectations for students and create a positive learning environment.
  • Implement school-wide student management policies and maintain a conducive classroom environment.
  • Attend all internal professional development with a growth mindset.
  • Seek opportunities outside of school to learn best practices.
  • Contribute to the design of character development programs and use culturally responsive strategies in lessons.
  • Collaborate with teammates on planning and participate in school-wide activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education (preferred).
  • Valid Georgia teaching certificate or equivalent in elementary education.
  • 3+ years of teaching experience in an urban elementary school setting.
  • Experience with data analysis and instructional design.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience teaching EL Education's literacy program.
  • Experience creating and teaching project-based lessons.
  • Experience in a STEAM field.
  • Experience teaching kindergarten and/or third grade.
