About the position

The Kindergarten Teacher at Santa Fe South Public Schools is responsible for creating a nurturing and effective learning environment for young children. This position requires a dedicated educator who can implement a variety of instructional strategies that align with lesson objectives and cater to the diverse needs of students. The teacher will participate in curriculum review and design, ensuring that the educational content is relevant and engaging for kindergarten students. In this role, the teacher will diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely manner, adjusting instruction as necessary to meet individual learning needs. The teacher will plan a program of study that not only meets the academic requirements but also considers the interests and abilities of each student. Creating a classroom environment that fosters learning and development is essential, as is the ability to assess student accomplishments regularly and provide necessary progress reports. Additionally, the teacher will refer students for alternative services as needed, such as ESL or special reading programs, and will collaborate effectively with other teachers and staff to implement district initiatives. The role also involves adhering to state statutes and school board policies, maintaining accurate records, and participating in professional development to stay current with instructional practices in education.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in curriculum review and design.
  • Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
  • Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Refer students for alternative services as provided by the District (ESL, Reading, Special Reading).
  • Effectively implement district initiatives.
  • Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.
  • Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
  • Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Remain current on instructional practices in education.

Requirements

  • Must hold proper state certification.
