About the position

Blackfoot Charter is seeking a passionate and dedicated Kindergarten Teacher to join our team at the Blackfoot Charter Community Learning Center. As a mid-sized school with a student population of 400, we pride ourselves on creating a supportive and positive learning environment that fosters academic success and personal growth. Our school is located in a newly built facility, completed in 2023, and offers a range of outdoor opportunities, being conveniently situated near Idaho Falls and Pocatello. We operate on a unique 4-day school week, allowing for dedicated staff development and planning time on designated Fridays each month. The Kindergarten Teacher will be responsible for providing a comprehensive elementary education program that helps students develop essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge for their continued education. This role involves designing engaging lessons that align with the Idaho Core Standards and cater to the diverse needs of our students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching methods, effective classroom management, and the integration of technology into instruction. Additionally, the teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues to promote student academic success through Professional Learning Communities. Responsibilities

  • Prepare for assigned classes and design lessons with appropriate difficulty levels.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs of students.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated locations and times.
  • Identify pupil needs and provide appropriate instruction.
  • Analyze and interpret student data to modify instructional activities.
  • Follow modifications and accommodations specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Implement the Idaho Core Standards in lesson plans and assessments.
  • Devise written and oral assignments that require critical thinking and evaluate student progress.
  • Prepare students for district, state, and federal testing.
  • Display command of the subject matter and budget class time effectively.

Requirements

  • Idaho teaching certificate with an appropriate endorsement (e.g., Standard Elementary Certificate, Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education Blended Certificate, or Generalist Endorsement).
  • Strong background in teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of subject matter and effective teaching methods.
  • Strong background in curriculum and Idaho Core Standards.
  • Experience in integrating technology with instruction.
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and maintain confidentiality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Professional Learning Communities.
  • Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
