About the position

The Kindergarten Teacher position at Westall Elementary School is designed to create a flexible and engaging learning environment for young children. The primary goal of this role is to foster personal growth and learning among students, establishing effective rapport and motivating them to develop essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge that form a solid foundation for their future education. The teacher will be responsible for teaching all subject areas as per the curriculum adopted by the School Committee, ensuring that each lesson is tailored to meet the diverse needs of students. In this role, the teacher will develop comprehensive lesson plans and instructional materials, providing individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum effectively. The teacher will translate lesson plans into engaging learning experiences, maximizing instructional time and maintaining a functional learning atmosphere through established standards of pupil behavior. Regular evaluation of students' academic and social growth will be essential, along with maintaining appropriate records and preparing progress reports. Communication with parents is a key responsibility, involving conferences and other means to discuss student progress and interpret the school program. The teacher will also identify pupil needs and collaborate with other professional staff to address health, attitude, and learning challenges. Creating an effective learning environment will involve designing functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers. Continuous professional development is encouraged through in-service education activities and self-selected growth opportunities. The position may also include additional responsibilities as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement between the Fall River Educators Association and the Fall River School Committee.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Appropriate Massachusetts Licensure.
