About the position

The Kinesiotherapy Assistant position at the Department of Veterans Affairs involves providing direct patient care and supporting the Kinesiotherapy staff in clinical and administrative duties. The role focuses on promoting disease prevention, remediation, and physical rehabilitation for Veterans, ensuring clinic readiness, and coordinating patient flow within the Kinesiotherapy clinics.

Responsibilities

• Interprets medical record information and implements prescribed treatment plans.
• Identifies contraindications for prescribed equipment or treatment and notifies the Kinesiotherapist.
• Performs minor equipment adjustments and repairs as needed.
• Ensures clinic readiness for treatments and activities, including cleaning and organizing the area and equipment.
• Completes appropriate paperwork and enters information into computer software for repair/removal.
• Coordinates patient flow for the staff Kinesiotherapists in collaboration with the Kinesiotherapist.
• Receives and reviews consults and schedules appointments according to compliance directives and patient eligibility.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Must meet time-in-grade requirements for GS-6 position, having served 52 weeks at GS-5 level.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-5 in a related field, such as assisting in physical or occupational therapy, or patient care.
• Education may substitute for experience, with graduate education or internships directly related to the position qualifying for GS-6.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a clinical setting with physical medicine and activities.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and patient care procedures.
