About the position

The Kitchen Associate at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a vital role in providing nutritional services to patients. This part-time position involves assisting patients with menu selections, delivering food trays, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas. The associate contributes to the overall well-being of patients by ensuring they receive their meals according to dietary guidelines and standards.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with menu selection and problem resolution, including follow-up with patients and families.
• Assembles and delivers trays per therapeutic diet guidelines and maintains tray line cleanliness.
• Delivers food carts to patient care units and returns them to the kitchen at designated times.
• Operates dishwashing machine and washes specified items by hand, such as pots, pans, and knives.
• Disposes of trash and garbage appropriately and as needed.
• Mops floors as scheduled and necessary.
• Performs cleaning duties as assigned, including walk-in refrigerators, freezers, and storage areas.
• May work in all positions on the tray line or retail areas and prepare/assemble hot/cold food for patients.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively and facilitate problem-solving in a courteous manner.
• Understanding of nutrition-related queries and terms, with the ability to coordinate with dieticians on dietary needs.
• Good listening and communication skills, with proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking conversational English.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

• Ability to utilize FIFO method and label and date food correctly.
