About the position

The Kitchen Coordinator at the ARCHES Navigation Center is responsible for overseeing the kitchen operations that provide food services to the homeless population in the Mid-Willamette Valley. This role involves collaborating with community partners, managing meal distribution, purchasing supplies, tracking inventory, training volunteers, and maintaining relationships within social service networks. The position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a challenging environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support the program kitchen operations.
  • Facilitate daily meal distribution for the homeless population.
  • Purchase and organize kitchen supplies and track inventory.
  • Schedule and train volunteers on food handling and kitchen procedures.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with social service networks.
  • Monitor the operation of commercial kitchen equipment and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Create menus and prepare nutritious meals in accordance with food safety rules.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience in community or commissary kitchens.
  • Experience coordinating with volunteers and community partners.
  • Driver's license and acceptable DMV record for the past three years.
  • Basic Life Support/First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Food Handler's Card or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • ServSafe Food Manager Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with people experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and videoconferencing platforms.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
