About The Position

The Kitchen Helper at Neihardt Elementary is responsible for assisting with the preparation, serving, and cleanup of food for students. This position is a 10-month role, aligning with the school year, and requires working from 6:30 am to 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The role involves various food service duties and maintaining a positive interaction with students and staff.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in high-volume food preparation and serving is desired, with school kitchen experience preferred.
• Must take Food Handlers Class within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and students.
• Ability to follow work instructions and maintain a positive attitude toward the foodservice program.
• Ability to report to work on time and notify the manager when unable to work.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of meals, including cooking and baking food.
• Clean and sanitize utensils, dishes, appliances, and other kitchen equipment.
• Perform general cleaning duties in the kitchen.
• Act as a cashier for lunch and handle money.
• Order and store supplies, and secure food for shipment to other kitchens.
• Serve prepared food to students.
• Adjust to changes in a dynamic environment while maintaining productivity.
• Interact positively with students, building staff, and supervisors.
