About the position

The Kitchen Specialist at Senior Care of Orange County is responsible for overseeing kitchen operations within the Soltys Place Adult Day Health Program. This role involves ensuring food safety, preparing meals, and creating a positive dining experience for participants. The Kitchen Specialist will also assist with participant care and engage in activity programming, contributing to the overall well-being of adults requiring support and supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Complete operational tasks such as making coffee and doing dishes.
  • Comply with operational protocols for environmental hygiene and food service, including daily documentation.
  • Document participant consumption percentages of fluids, snacks, and lunch when necessary.
  • Prepare and serve non-catered program meals, including AM and PM snacks.
  • Prepare the dining room for each mealtime and monitor participants during dining.
  • Ensure the kitchen is cleaned up at each mealtime and dishes are prepped for the following meal.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly kitchen cleaning and sanitation tasks as assigned.
  • Retrieve lunches as per the agreement with the Passmore Center.
  • Maintain updated lists of participant dietary needs, restrictions, and preferences.
  • Monitor safe food handling practices and create an enjoyable dining experience for participants.
  • Assist participants with special mealtime needs and ensure proper disposal of trash and recyclables.
  • Follow guidance from the Daily Flow Coordinator regarding daily programming and activities.
  • Assist with participant care and documentation of needs and changes.

Requirements

  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Stable health status with no conditions that would inhibit working with vulnerable populations, including the ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Completion of statewide background check.
  • Physician statement attesting to health status.
  • Kind, compassionate, and flexible when interacting with others.
  • CPR and BLS training as specified in state licensing requirements.
  • Successful completion of nurse's aide, home health aide, or equivalent training course, or a minimum of one year of related experience in caring for impaired adults.

Nice-to-haves

  • ServSafe certification or other safe food handling certification and experience.
