About the position

The Kitchen Staff Substitute position at Opaa! Food Management, Inc. involves performing essential kitchen functions on an as-needed basis, ensuring food preparation and service meet quality and safety standards. The role requires flexibility and adherence to menu plans, while promoting a positive dining experience for customers.

Responsibilities

• Assist with set-up of serving lines and ensure food is held at required temperatures.
• Prepare foods according to menu plans and Opaa! recipes.
• Plan and prep for the next day's menus.
• Operate kitchen equipment with proper certification.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
• Clean kitchen and cafeteria areas, including equipment and dishes.
• Organize inventory stock and practice FIFO procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness in cooler/storage racks.
• Monitor chemical usage and maintain dishwashing equipment.
• Requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager.
• Prepare baked goods as required by the menu plan.
• Present food to customers in an appealing manner.
• Batch cook to maintain quality and presentation of food.
• Set up serving lines and ensure proper food temperatures.
• Restock items as needed and serve food with proper utensils.
• Ensure compliance with meal service regulations and safety procedures.
• Handle customer transactions and maintain accurate records.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and present information effectively.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a kitchen or food service environment.
• Certification in food safety or kitchen equipment operation.
