About the position

The Kitchen Staff position at Opaa! Food Management, Inc. involves preparing breakfast and lunch offerings, assisting with serving lines, and participating in catering functions. The role requires adherence to food safety regulations and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment while ensuring high-quality food presentation and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the set-up of serving lines and ensure food is held at the required temperature.
  • Prepare foods according to the menu plan and Opaa! recipes.
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, and grinders with proper certification.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, kitchen, and cafeteria.
  • Keep inventory organized and practice First In/First Out (FIFO) procedures.
  • Clean and maintain dishwashing equipment and store clean dishes appropriately.
  • Requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager as needed.
  • Prepare baked goods and present them appealingly to customers.
  • Batch cook to maintain quality and presentation of food.
  • Serve food items with proper serving sizes and utensils, ensuring quality presentation and hospitality.
  • Keep serving lines stocked with food items, napkins, silverware, and dishes as needed.
  • Prepare foods in compliance with menu plans and regulations, maintaining accurate production records.
  • Follow HACCP processes and procedures, recording temperatures of food items.
  • Report unsafe working conditions and participate in safety programs.
  • Attend required meetings and complete training hours as needed.
  • Handle customer transactions and maintain accurate paperwork.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, or up to one month of related experience or training.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Basic mathematical skills for measuring and computing food quantities.
  • Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions and solve problems in standardized situations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a kitchen or food service environment.
  • Certification in food safety or handling.
