About the position

The Room Service Supervisor is responsible for leading a team that delivers high-quality food and exemplary service to patients, guests, and staff in a hospital setting. This role involves supervising various team members, ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards, and maintaining operational efficiency in food service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates and coordinates the Room Service Team to deliver patient trays within 45 minutes and collect trays within 1 hour after delivery.
  • Directly supervises Guest Service Attendants, Dish Room Attendants, Call Center Operators, and Cooks.
  • Motivates the Room Service Team to provide the best quality food and service.
  • Ensures patient trays are 100% accurate according to the printed kitchen ticket.
  • Takes corrective action to ensure high-quality service for patients, guests, and staff.
  • Operates the hospital computer system, including the Computrition diet office system.
  • Alerts team members to dietary restrictions and allergies.
  • Assures all inventories are at par before each meal period.
  • Ensures availability of dirty tray trucks on each floor for collection.
  • Responsible for adherence to cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Directs and assists in operational tasks to maintain quality assurance standards for sanitation and safety.
  • Creates weekly schedules for employees and adjusts daily schedules as needed.
  • Notifies and seeks assistance from other supervisors and managers for adequate staffing.
  • Involved in the in-service training of employees and orientation of new hires.
  • Assists in managerial training of dietetic interns.
  • Conducts employee performance evaluations and counsels on disciplinary issues.
  • Monitors and participates in sanitation and safety procedures, including the HAACP program.
  • Adheres to departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • High school education with 1-2 years of work experience in food service or customer service.
  • Basic supervisory course recommended.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diet orders and food regulations set by health authorities.
  • Computer skills and basic mathematics knowledge, including cash handling.
  • Familiarity with Windows, Word, and Excel spreadsheets.

  • Certification in food safety or sanitation.
