As a Knitting and Crochet Teacher at Manhattan Youth, you will be responsible for teaching weekly classes focused on knitting and crocheting techniques to elementary and middle school students. Your role will involve offering a variety of creative and seasonally appropriate projects that engage students and help them develop their skills in fiber arts. You will troubleshoot with students as they learn and practice, providing guidance and support to inspire them to create their own accessories and gifts using the techniques they learn in class. In addition to teaching, you will be responsible for classroom management and time management, ensuring that lessons run smoothly and that students are engaged and learning effectively. You will generate age-appropriate lesson plans that cater to the varying skill levels of your students, offering a range of projects that advance their abilities. You will also create supply lists and coordinate with the Program Director to ensure that all necessary materials are available for your classes. This position is part-time and offers a competitive pay rate of $44 per hour.
