The Knowledge Management (KM) Principal will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and enhancing the comprehensive KM strategy for the organization. This newly established position will collaborate closely with key business stakeholders, technical experts, practice groups, and various departments to create a robust framework aimed at organizing, distilling, and presenting information effectively in the context of addressing business challenges. The KM Principal will engage with Senior Business Leaders and work alongside Technical Experts and interest groups across FM&T's departments, providing Subject Matter Expert (SME) solutions for the KM program's framework, processes, and systems. In the initial phase, the KM Principal will assess and baseline the current KM culture, executing a risk-reduction strategy to mitigate the loss of critical knowledge. A multi-year programmatic maturity roadmap for the KM program will be developed, leveraging a deep understanding of KM industry practices, information technology concepts, and process improvement methodologies. The role requires proactive relationship-building across business functions to identify needs, manage stakeholder expectations, and leverage KM Champions effectively. Collaboration with the IT department is essential to utilize existing and forecasted software applications and technology. The KM Principal will also work with Human Resources and Talent Management to integrate KM culture into workforce development and training initiatives. By executing deliberate change management strategies, the KM Principal will influence Senior Management's adoption of KM strategies, processes, and systems, ensuring alignment with best practices. The role includes benchmarking and leveraging best practices across the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) for immediate, measurable KM wins. The KM Principal will develop, analyze, and report on KM metrics that drive desired behaviors, acting as a KM ambassador by providing training, support, coaching, and success stories to promote KM culture and enhance the workforce's understanding of KM principles and their value. The position also involves self-directed work, providing scalable and customized KM solutions to a diverse range of senior leaders and functional managers, serving as the SME for KM frameworks and processes, and maintaining documentation related to processes and procedures. Additionally, the KM Principal will analyze and interpret data for process improvement and trends analysis, ensuring historical knowledge is accessible across various functional areas and mission programs, while also preserving historically significant artifacts and information. The role may include providing work direction and performance feedback as needed.
