About the position

The Knowledge Management (KM) Principal will design, implement, and enhance the business's comprehensive KM strategy. This role involves collaboration with key stakeholders and technical experts to create frameworks that organize and present information effectively to address business challenges. The KM Principal will work closely with senior leaders and various departments to provide expert solutions for the KM program's framework, processes, and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and baseline current-state KM culture and execute a risk-reduction strategy.
  • Develop a multi-year programmatic maturity roadmap for the KM program.
  • Maintain a deep working knowledge of KM industry practices and process-improvement practices.
  • Establish relationships across business functions to identify needs and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Collaborate with IT to leverage software applications and technology for KM.
  • Work with HR and Learning to integrate KM culture into workforce development initiatives.
  • Influence Senior Management adoption of KM strategies and best practices.
  • Benchmark and leverage best practices for immediate KM wins.
  • Develop, analyze, and report on KM metrics to drive desired behaviors.
  • Provide training, support, and coaching to champion KM culture.
  • Influence knowledge sharing and collaborative workflow culture.
  • Self-direct work and provide scalable KM solutions to senior leaders.
  • Serve as the SME point of contact for KM framework and processes.
  • Create and maintain process and product documentation.
  • Monitor and record the use of KM systems for process improvement.
  • Provide KM SME input to employees and contractors on KM activities.
  • Analyze historical information for authenticity and significance.
  • Identify and improve accessibility of historical knowledge across functions.
  • Preserve historically significant artifacts and information.
  • Partner with communications to educate on historically significant events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, information systems, information technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of nine years of relevant experience.
  • Industry Recognized KM Manager Certification.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as needed.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced Certification(s) in Records, Information, or Knowledge Management.
  • Experience with Federal Government standards for records management.
  • Experience executing cultural change management plans.
  • Experience designing and scaling a KM program from grassroots to enterprise-wide.
  • Experience improving processes and systems for efficiency.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Inquisitive, self-motivated, and independent worker.
  • Advanced understanding of Knowledge Management Principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Thorough proficiency with SharePoint.
  • Experience training and coaching others.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to influence others through effective communication.
